+Dear Radical White Hipsters

I know you feel the need

To lecture everyone in the room

On what you know

I know that because you’re a cool-enough-to-school-others, blonde and blue heroic hipster,

You probably know my heritage a lot better than I do

If being an Armenian was tight enough.

And I could…

It’s honestly sad how few countries recognize the Armenian genocide. Please do not deny history. According to a letter written by the Sultan Talaat Pasha who for ordered the extermination of the Armenians he wrote “Leave only one Armenian alive, and put him in a museum.”
"I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia. See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia."  -

"My brother, if you want news from here we have killed 1,200 Armenians, all of them as food for the dogs … Mother, I am safe and sound. Father, 20 days ago we made war on the Armenian unbelievers. Through God’s grace no harm befell us … There is a rumour afoot that our Battalion will be ordered to your part of the world [Harput]—if so, we will kill all the Armenians there … May God bless you."  -

taken from the letters of Turkish soldier stationed in Erzurum during the Hamidian Massacres (1894-1896), during which up to 300,000 Ottoman Armenians and 25,000 Assyrians were slaughtered without regard for age or gender.

“The nonchalant tone of these family letters is matched by the total abandon with which participation in a mass murder is being openly broadcast, and it is exceeded only by the relish expressed about the hideous manner of disposal of the remains of the victims. One is dealing here not only with the manifestation of attitudes affording gruesome forms of massacre as commonplace phenomenon, but with the evidence of a state system identified with these attitudes. Here is a regimental unit of the standing [Ottoman] army engaged in broad daylight in peace-time killing operations against unarmed civilian populations.” (“The History of the Armenian Genocide: Ethnic Conflict from the Balkans to Anatolia to the Caucasus” by Vahakn N. Dadrian)

"Our grandfathers and fathers were used in the injustices perpetrated against Armenians, Assyrians and Yezidis. There’s blood on their hands. With the blood of these peoples they bloodied their own hands. Thus, as their children and grandchildren, we apologize, we, as Kurds, say that we did commit these crimes, but we committed them against our will. The Turkish government, instead of denying it, must also apologize…There is a need for fundamental change here."  - Ahmet Turk, Kurdish nationalist politician  (via tomarza)

Serj Tankian of System of a Down telling Obama to keep his promise and recognize the Armenian Genocide.
"I used to be Armenian
until they took that from me too
like they took my grandparents’ lives
and then had the audacity to say
they were casualties of war.
And still my people fight
against an impossible, intangible foe
All we want is to be heard
to be understood
for someone to say
we were wrong
but instead forced ignorance is their only currency
and every blow is a little deeper
and every lie is killing twice."  - the forgotten genocide, melissa lake (via tomarza)
Anonymous said: Are you even aware how fucking stupid you sound all the time? And you wonder why no one gives a shit about your insignificant tribe of crybaby armenians?

To answer your first question, yes. To answer your second question, no I don’t wonder. I know exactly why no one gives a shit. Cuz it doesn’t affect them. That’s why most men don’t give a shit about problems that affect women. That’s why most white people don’t give a shit about problems that affect poc. It’s how this stupid fucking world works.

Obviously it would be naive of me to think that my ranting on a website is gonna change that. But you know what? Because of my ranting on a website, more people know about the Armenian Genocide today than last week. So fuck you very much.
